Taking it easy

It is pouring outside and getting dark. I was trying to motivate to go to my club run tonight, knowing full well it would probably just be me and Phil, but now I am thinking that I am going to stay home. Not because its raining, not because I am not motivated to run, but because my hip has been bothering me for a while now and on this morning's run it was particularly tight, pulling all the way from where it inserts down through my glute, hip, knee...not nice at all. I stretched and it felt better but I am very much also allowed to take it easy. I raced on Saturday (50k), which made it a 90+ mile week, this week even without running tonight will be 90+ miles and I am gearing up for the Northface 50 miler in 2 weeks. I want to be as ready as possible for that so I can at least feel healthy enough to attack for the $10k. I haven't started my taper yet (obviously) and want to make sure I get a good training load in, but I also know that I have plenty of mileage on my legs for the year and am in no real danger of being undertrained.....funny how the brain works though.... I just want to keep going and going and going.

Looking forward to some fun runs this weekend. Going to try and find a good trail to test out my new super light Adizero XT trail shoes on Saturday (25-27 miles) and Sunday I have an XC race in the morning and going to run at Cougar Mt. in the afternoon.

Sometimes I just have these moments when I realize just how great it is that I not only have something I am passionate about but something that continually challenges me, pushes me and brings me so much joy. Yeah for running!
